Functionally I like it because:
Easy to figure out by touch which end is which - can choose the unlock doors button or the rear door open button when the key is in my pocket without taking the key out (important with our very cold temperatures here!)

Actually the engines for the 'S' and Turbo are built in Zuffenhausen... but not the 6 cyls.

Well played.
The V6...the engine that doesn't leak coolant from cracked plastic tubes?
VW builds a good engine.

vw has already been down the road of poor quality plastic coolant pipes. so much in fact that they are now known as "crack pipes" in the vw community:
