Sat Nav retrofit?

Sat Nav retrofit?
Still on the search for a Cayenne. One thing that's cropped up is that cars without Sat Nav (PCM 2.0?) appear to be much cheaper.
I'm always keen for a bargain so is it possible to retrofit the sat nav system with bits from a scrapper? Is it a fairly simple DIY plug and play job? Any special equipment or knowledge needed?

You'd be better off with an aftermarket double DIN nav system from a company like Kenwood or Pioneer.

+2, and get all the gadgets you want and harnesses to retain any OEM functions.......take pics if you do it.
I have the CDR23 and just have resolved to get an entry level alpine cd player or pioneer that has a usb plug to charge and play both my android and iphone jukebox I have on hand. I like using my separate GPS or google maps on G2X android over any fancy smancy big head unit.

If you find an used vehicle that used to have a PCM system with BOSE sound, MOST network and CAN BUS, you could probably install a PCM withou much hassle.
I'm working on a fleet of circa 2004-2008 Cayennes and found many variations in the sound and GPS system that lead me to think factory workers installed PCM prep packages on a whim.
If you are not scared of tackling trim and wire works, I'd +3 for an aftermarket system. They are much more fun and versatile than the PCM.
Good luck!
