Default Thinking about buying a CPO 06 base

Hi all!

As the title says... I came across this nice looking 06' CPO base with 48k miles. I am a former 944 guy that went BMW and now wants back in a P-Car *or truck, whatever you call this *
My price point leads me to pre-owned, so this 06 fits my budget. Just not sure it fits me. My problem is I am the most indecisive person when it comes to cars. I typically can't own a car for more than a year. I really want to keep my next car for a long time. Well, I am defining a "long time" as 5+ years.
My wife and I live in South Florida, so in order to take advantage of our location we plan on buying a small 16-18ft starter boat. So, I need a tow rig and one that is preferably fun to drive. We are also planning on moving to Pittsburgh within the next few years *keeping the boat and FL home so still need a tow rig* and we will need an awd vehicle for the winters.
So far it looks like the Cayenne is a good fit, but just not sure. Our garage would consist of this and my wife's 08 mazda3 *which she loves and would never part with*. Also, the wife refuses to drive a stick, so the tipronic is a must.
I plan... waaaaay in the future to have her car, the suv and then my toy, preferably a 993. Do you think the 06 cayenne, in all its glory is up for the challenge of winning me over and then me keeping it for the 5+ years, or am I just going to toss it aside after 12 months of ownership. I know that question sounds ridiculous, but just looking for opinions.
Thanks in advance!
Matt

06 base equates to.......v6 3.2 liter and these can be found for low miles at 24k and below....higher miles below 20k in cost.....

I towed a 20 ft Supra launch lts wakeboarding boat for 4 years.

I hope to put 250 plus miles on this and keep it as my mule.......

I am sure if you can keep up the maintenance, tires, gas, etc........cardan shaft issues are there.....

Its not going to deliver smoldering towing on hills etc but should be ok at highway speeds and beach crusing......

cardan shaft?

What about timing belt? Does it have a chain?

You think upgrading to the v8 would be better? I am trying to stay between 25-35k.

At that price point you should look for a CS IMO and if you really look hard you might get lucky with a CTT. HUGE difference

That is what I was thinking, but the turbo worries me. Not sure if I would be up for the maintenance costs. Maybe I am wrong.

I really like the GTS, but pretty sure the wife would murder me at 50-60k :P.

Cardan shaft or drive shaft in any model of cayenne has a known rubber bearing issue........it dies every 60k or so miles.

The only thing extra for the v8's is they might suck some more oil and make sure the coolant tubes are fixed........and pencil coils.........*(if you can turn a dime to open the plastic covers, and have 2 hours, you can snap in new coils if they crack)....
