Based on what I've read from previous threads, most of the clip-on mirror extensions have issues with vibration and stability and they don't fit well on the new more sclupted 2011 mirrors.
Does anybody have mirror extensions that work well with the new mirrors?
The suction cup mounts would likely work - but the risk of damaging the car if they came loose seems a bit much.

At Parade this past Summer I cornered a person from PORSCHE AG and discussed the subject of extended mirrors and the requirement in the States to see around your trailer. I also said that since you advertise the Cayenne as a towing vehicle you should either re-design the current mirrors to extend or make optional ad on mirrors to clamp to the unique shape of the standard outside mirrors. An Executive from PORSCHE NA was listening and chimed in that I was correct. Now will PORSCHE do something about it, who knows. I'm about to make a bracket that I can mount on the mirrors ( will drill small holes in the black plastic along the bottom edge for mounting so as to mount small mirrors outboard of the current ones. Other than that my 2011 Cayenne S effortlessly towed my box trailer with the Cayman and stuff from Texas to Savannah and back at highway speeds. Great vehicle ... needs better mirrors.

First, I tried the **** 11960 "Universal Towing Mirror". This attaches to the Porsche mirrors. I couldn't make it work on the '11 Cayenne S. This towing mirror design relies on three feet and one strap for support, and the angles of the Porsche mirror seem to be too much. In addition, the towing mirror housing is pretty heavy, creating substantial torque. I'm guessing it would have fallen off or dropped substantially in the first mile.

As ltc mentioned these have been used, the straps are stronger than you thing. I have a pair I use when towing
Not as good as electrically extended F250's tho

BTW, I can't recommend this mirror (**** 11952). If you look at the shape of the Cayenne mirror and think about how the straps are applied, they are bound to slip in a direction that lowers tension and ultimately causes the mirror to fall off or dangle. Also note that the arms that clip to the edge of the mirror really don't couple properly. This mirror is designed for a Chevy or Ford SUV, not a vehicle with a curvy mirror shape like the Cayenne.

I'm searching for a word ... it's between criminal and pathetic ... give me a moment.
Towing mirrors have been one of the many Achilles heels of the P!g since its introduction.
Suffice it to say, PCNA and PAG are aware of the issue and continue to ignore it.
