Default Manual trans swap in a...?

I drive a VW Touareg V8. It has a 6 speed tiptronic trans that I'd like to (consider) swapping out for a 6 speed manual. Problem is, in the States (and with the V8) VW never offered a manual transmission on the Touareg. This is where the Pepper comes in. I know a 6 speed manual was available on a few models, the 3.2 V6, the 3.6 V6 (?), and the GTS. Because the Touareg and Pepper are stablemates, I thought maybe a tranny swap would be a possibility.

Does anybody know if this is possible? Is the transmission and clutch assembly in the V6 models the same as that in the GTS (I'm assuming the GTS' setup is more robust...?). Finally, where would I source a transmission. In some preliminary research, I was not able to find any info at all on this topic.

Thanks,

Brad

for touareg, 6sp manual was/is offered on diesel models and on the 3.2/3.6l V6 in the EU. it was not offered on V8.
there sould be no problems fitting a V6 touareg/cayenne manual transmission, but you might run into trouble fitting one from the GTS. the V8 on cayenne is a porsche engine, but the V8 on VW is VW/audi and there might be differences in bolt patterns etc.
you could source one from this side of the pond: http://cgi.ebay.de/Getriebe-FDZ-AUDI...item5adfc60785 but shipping will be really expensive
