I am trading my '08 Cayenne S in and I am placing an order for a 2012 Cayenne. I drive 90% of the time on highways/toll roads and I'm very interested in how well the adaptive cruise control really works for those of you who have it and have spent some time with it. I noted in the threads I've read on this forum that some are frustrated that you can't turn it off.

I have to finalize my order in a few days, and I would really appreciate your feedback on this feature.

unlike the blind spot assist that i wholeheartedly endorse, this is a total waste of a couple grand. put it toward the Burmester instead...

tried it in an audi q7 (it's the same system as in cayenne) and hated it. car is completely undrivable in dense traffic, brakes too hard and sometimes even for no apparent reason

Thank you for your insights - your comments are very very helpful!! It sounds like this option is not quite ready for prime time.

I hope they've improved it since the '07 Infiniti I drove with it. Every time the hi-way made a curve, if there was someone in the outside lane in front of me it would brake thinking the car was directly in front.

Very annoying. But then again, the only reason I use CC is to keep me from speeding more than I already do.
