Default Argh! Service Bill

Wife's 04 Cayenne went into the shop for service. The car has lots of miles on it just topping 165,000.

It needs a new front diff and ABS pump. Assuming remanufactured units for both the price from parts and install are $3700, and $1900 respectively. OUCH!

There are a few other repair items that increases the bill.

Probably will not repair given the fact that a Cayenne with 165,000 miles is not worth a whole lot.

Aside from tire wear and the coolant pipes issue, it has been a good car. We will miss it.

RIP

Keep in mind that it's cheaper to put a few thousand into a paid-for car than it is to buy another. If the car is otherwise sound and makes you happy, I'd put the money into it.

Is there an independent (indy) mechanic nearby who can do the work?

That's too bad. PAG still haven't figured out yet how it works in order to keep their clients past the factory warranty.

BMW actually foots a nice-sized portion of the parts bill on older model BMW's in order to keep the client coming back to the dealer. My wife's '02 Benz saw the last of the Mercedes-Benz dealership last year when they tried one of their usual such tactics.
