Default Blizzak DM-V1 tire width on CS 06

Morning all, I am looking to get a set of dedicated snow tires on my 06 CS. I have heard nothing but stellar reports from the Blizzak DM-V1.

My question is that they only offer 2 sizes in 19"

245/55 R19 3% taller
255/60 R19 8% taller

Should i get the 255? or the 245s?

the 245's seems a bit narrow but then again narrow is better in snow correct?

Advice anyone?

ps. i have a spare set of OEM 19" i want to mount them on.

Thank you

has nobody mounted dedicated snow tires 255/60/19 or 245/55/19 on the pepper?

I keep reading that the wider tires dont fair as well as the skinnier ones in the snow.

anyone?

I've got 20s on mine, so I can't help you with 19s. On the 911, my rears drop down to 265s from the summer 295s, and the fronts stay the same. I know that a narrow tire will do better in deep snow, but I'm not sure that it will do much better for average winter driving.

Thanx Dennis, i guess as long as its not unsafe to use a 245 on this car.

I've got dedicated winter tires 275/45 R19 (pirelli snowsomething) all around on my 06 CTTS.

245 will be just fine IMO, you might feel a slight difference in handling (more understeer) .

I have 275/45/19 M+S on them now and its borderline dangerous.. spent 4 hours digging myself out from sliding sideways on a driveway.

I have 255/55/R18 Nokian WR SUV this winter and have been satisfied with them so far. They aren't as good as Blizzaks for traction, but they have a much higher speed rating, so I leaned that direction with the p!g.
Forget the M+S rating tires in real snow, you need tires with the mountain/snowflake symbol or you're screwed.

Agreed. An M+S rated tire is fine for light snow, but for the snow in the photos, a dedicated winter tire is more appropriate.

We've used various winter tires on our vehicles - Blizzaks are the best in my opinion.
