Default 2006 Porsche S Transmission lugging

We just bought a 2006 Porsche Cayenne S and as we accelerate and deccelerate the transmission seems to lug a bit and goes up to D6 right away when you are going 40 or 50km/hr and when you deccelerate it doesn't go down to D5, D4 etc as the speed drops. It's like when you are going 40km/hr in 5th gear on a manual. As I understand this is relatively normal for this vehicle but I wanted to see if there is any software update to address this or if anyone has any thoughts on this matter. Thanks

There is no sport mode on this model to my knowledge. Is there a way to find out?

Isn't the PSM necessary for day to day driving?

Only if you get in way over your head and need Please Save Me.

Sounds as though your transmission is suffering from a very bad case of Grandmother Mode Adaptation.

Listen to Mudman2 ... Press the PSM button.

I did turn off the PSM and it does work better, higher RPM's though. Is this something I am going to need to do all the time in the city or is there any other long term solution? Also is it detremental to the vehicle to turn this on and off all the time?

OK drive it like that and push it for a day then see what normal now feels like. The egas system learns behavior and adapts the program to reflect driving habits

Thanks for your updates.. Right now I am keeping the PSM off during city driving and then reactivating it on the hwy. Do you recommend to continue doing that or to keep it activated all the time like I was before and let the egas system adapt to my driving habits? Thank you for your thoughts

you should be good by now just see if it drives better. Don't forget to use a heavy foot sometimes to stop it happening again

you think by deactivating the psm and then reactivating it might have solved the lugging issue? I will see how it goes tonight. Thanks

No the only way to do it other than the above "relearning" way is to perform Egas adaptation reset using a dealers tester
