Default 2005 Porsche Cayenne S 22" Wheels

I know a lot of people run 22" wheels on first generation Cayennes but does anyone have issues with it? I've seen problems with navigation, psm, tire pressure monitoring, trip computer, distance to empty, etc with larger than stock tires on original wheels so I would think there would be the same issues with 22" wheels. Porsche dealerships can only code the car for factory sizes (which only go up to 20" on 1st gen cayennes) but is there any other way to compensate?

You can change the wheel diameter as long as the tire circumference remains the same.

Growing wheel size should be done in conjunction with reducing sidewall aspect ratio

Post your desired sizes and we can help with the calcs.

As an example, the stock size is 255/55-18. This translates to

Tire height of ((255mm/25.4) x 0.55) x 2 + 18 = 29.04"
Circumference (pi*diameter) = (3.14159 * 29.04") = 91.24"

A quick calc shows your 22" wheel will need the following aspect ratios for the widths:

255-22: Aspect ratio of 35 will give you a circumference of 91.2 with a tire size of 255/35 - 22
275-22: Aspect ratio of 30 will give you a circumference of 89.5 with a tire size of 275/30-22
Aspect ratio fo 35 will give you a circumference of 92.7 with a tire size of 275/35-22

Your 275-22 falls in-between the stock size but only off by about 2%. In the grand scheme of things, it is not too bad.

Hope this helps.

Here's a perfect website to dial in your tire sizes and compare to stock; keeping the overall diameter and widths as close to stock as possible.

285/35/22 is also very close to stock and will give you a bit more sidewall and comfort. I actually have 23" wheels on mine and I have yet to experience any issues whatsoever. I actually find the ride better with my big wheels better than with my stock 19's...but that's just my opinion. I'm sure you'll find others who feel very strongly about 22's being a bad idea. End of the day, it's not going to hurt your car. Performance...well, they are a bit heavier than stock but we have 5000lb trucks here so who cares. With 22's its all about the look. Why else would anyone go that route? If you like that kind of thing as I do then do it. You won't regret it. One word of caution though...if you live in an area with crappy roads, you might want to consider a wheel/tire setup that is more forgiving like 20". Potholes are a 22" wheel's arch nemesis

i bought 22" HRE for my 11, put 285/35 on them (yoko parada spec X) heard great things about the tires, had 22's on a few vehicles in past without any problems..

potholes are always bad with big wheels on big cars.. but just be cautious..

im also blacking out my stock 18's to get the look Cole got on his turbo with his "snow" pics.

I bought mine with 22s... I thought they looked great in term so size and the ride wasn't that bad at all. I wan't in love with the chrome so i changed to oems. If I could spend the cash, I would have probably went with another 22s but it wasn't as important to me...

BTW, the 22s are going on craigslist or ebay soon complete with excellent condition toyo proxes... Let me know if anyone is interested

Not to be contrary, but my issues with really large diameter wheels, are that they're heavy and they make the brake rotors look ridiculously small. JMO.

Try Victor Equipment Zehn's in 22" (Got mine in 20" unfortunely) but so far asthetically I think they best wheel I've seen in for the Cayenne!
