The Jag is a 2002 very low mileage only on about 47k miles at present, the cayenne will be totally black in the long run!!

I have two 02's -- an XJR also.

Jaguar had some issues with the early V8's. They were originally designed with nikasil cylinders -- but that was fixed by 2000 with the introduction of steel sleeved cylinders in all the V8's. The other issues were plastic vaned water pumps - and you should be OK with that unless it was a very early 02. But all the non supercharged cars were fitted with plastic thermostat covers that will eventually crack and fail. The other issue that all the V8's had including the supercharged were the use of plastic timing chain tensioners - they were revised a few times but its important to determine what you have - especially if you ever hear a rattle sound on first start. It the chain slips the valves hit the pistons -- easily the end of the motor. The main problem is the secondary tensioners under the front of the valve covers.

In the USA all of these cars came fitted with the V8 -- no other motor was available -- I understand that in the UK other motors were possible so you may have something else.

Just figured I would give some info if you are not familiar with the problems
