Can someone detail steps to replace Cayenne water pump?
I asked if this is a diy item with no real response so I thought I would see if someone would detail what is involved so I can decide for myself if I want to try it. My local dealer is known for screwing up (they caused $1200 worth of damage to my Land Rover by crossing up electrical connectors and burned up the SAI system) and the next closest dealer is 2 hours away so I would like to do it myself.
My 2004 Cayenne Turbo appears to be loosing coolant around the water pump.
Can anyone detail the process or give any pointers? I have searched and find nothing.
Does anything major(intake, etc.) have to be removed to replace the pump? Any tips on removing the belt, hoses, airbox, etc?
All my searches result in posts of people complaining about dealers and not actually doing the work.
I want to do this myself unless there is good reason not to.
Thanks

Not sure if I've seen to date (on Rennlist) a step-by-step pictorial 'how-to' on changing the Cayenne water pump.
The Cayenne service manuals are helpful and detail (to a certain degree) the operations required for this work.
A good investment if you decide to DIY on the Cayenne.

Any feedback? My 2004 cayenne s is dripping coolant from the water pump and I'd like to do it myself also. Dealer wants $650, parts are <$150 on www.pelicanparts.com

The only thing I can say about it was that when I had a problem with mine -- they said it was a very easy fix and they had it back before lunch. 06 CS
Mine was making some noise last winter when I first started it.

The watera pump is fairly easy
1. Remove the intake pipe (the three claps and the bosch sensor on the top)
2. Then take the sepentine belt off ( after you loosen the bolts on the water pump pulley)
3. Then you will need a female torx bit cant think of the size need too got into the shop and get that if you need it.
4. Remove all the bolts then reinstall in reverse.
If you need more detaill write me I below glad too help

sounds easy, you make sure you get the S belt back on and with enough tension.
If the water pump is worn out..........should he consider anything else while in there?
maybe put on a new Serpentine belt anyways?
Do these pig trucks have thermostats etc like Jeeps?
