Default Looking to buy GTS

I am looking for some background information on the GTS. Was the model out for just 08,09 and10? How are the prices holding up. I don't want any low rider with wide flares. I like the understated look. I will be keeping the 997. The GTS will be a semi DD...Thanks GR

'08 & '09? I'll assume you're referring to the Cayenne GTS and not Carrera GTS? The price is likely much softer now with the introduction of the new Cayenne, which has been a huge success so far.

Yes..looking at the Cayenne GTS,'09. Seems like several low mile examples out there. Guess it is the new model. I will buy used. I have learned muy lesson after buying my 997s new and the hit I took when all the new models came out...Thanks for any help...GR

If you don't have to have it now, then I'd recommend waiting to buy the '11 Cayenne used instead. It's a completely new design inside/out and underneath the skin. Granted, it'll be more money than a GTS, but you get the DFI drivetrain, upgraded interior, and better fuel economy. I know styling is subjective, but I've always found the prior-gen Cayennes to look too much like a regular SUV; whereas the new one looks a great deal sportier.

Ok good advice, but DD has been wrecked. Might just look at a "normal' new model to make sure. When buying from a dealer is the CPO warranty always added to a used car purchase? Thanks...GR

Not always, although likely in most cases. CPO indicates Porsche's willingness to stand behind the product, so a dealer certainly wouldn't want many cars on their lot they wouldn't certify for whatever reason. OTOH, a dealer CPO shouldn't be taken at face value either. A thorough, independent PPI is wise and essential on any used P-car, even CPO'd.

My advice would be to only buy with CPO warranty attached - just in case $hit happens. I traded my GT3 for a used '10 GTS with 3k miles several months ago and could not be happier. We felt that it was a better move from a financial perspective than going for a stripped new '11 model and we wanted to avoid the first year reliability problems of a new model. We liked the "blacked out" look of the GTS and the turbo in comparison to the standard "S".

When we were looking, what we found is that iPod compatibility and the Sat Radio, required an '09 model or younger although you can use aftermarket iPod interfaces for '08s. Not sure this is completely true so worth for you to check out.

Look on the Porsche Website for used car availability and to get an indication of asking prices. Some options are more rare than others and we found that 6-speeds could be had for a discount:

Have you taken a recent look at the backside of the new Cayenne as compared to the backside of the Kia & Hyundai SUV's?

I don't disagree the new Cayenne's rear-end bears much resemblance to some Japanese/Korean products. Despite that, however, it still looks sleeker and sportier than before. The prior-gens seem boxier and brawnier to my eyes.
