2003 P!gs are known as Alphas, 2004's are known as betas.
It is generally accepted that by mid 2005 - MY 2006 the majority of the "personality traits" were worked out.

BTW, there is no MY2007 Cayennein existence for the US...just in case someone tries to sell you one.

P!gs have the honor of accumulating the most TSB's in the shortest period of time.
There was only one federal recall, A506 rear seat belt ... The Cowboy Belt Buckle.

There were a large number of items, too large for any single document to contain, except perhaps for the Codex Bible.

Cracked coils ... 7 revisions
Rear window microswitch ... 4 revisions
Cardan shaft ... 2 revisions
Cracked coolant tubes .... Don't ask
Wipers that sound like an elephant's *** being dragged across windshield
Front headlight condensation ... Fixed with maxi pads or ventilation tubes
Stainless steel trim that rusts
Self ejecting stainless steel trim
Wheel alignment ... 3 revisions
Throttle hesitation ... ECU Adaptive Grandmother mode
TCU firmware - ECU firmware mismatches ... Clunking
TCU valve bodily ...Clunking
Trailer lighting compatibility .... "!"
Leaking front headlight washers
Rear window dripping washer nozzle prostate
Front headlights coming loose
Front headlight connector corrosion
PASM compressor leaking ( rebuild kit )
Rear hatch struts require Viagra or Cialis

I could go on, but my fingers would blister and bleed.

Everyone will experience coils, cardan shaft and cracked coolant tubes ... Fact, not opinion, just based on the design. These are the most expensive and should be addressed as part of any sale.

The other issues will pop up at one point or another.

The P!g Pen is the internet's greatest repository of Cayenne experience, once you learn to navigate and STFF.

Happy Shopping

Thanks....that's all very good info and I appreciate it. Luckily, here in town is a great shop I used when I had my 928....reasonable and very good work. Plus I can do a lot of stuff myself...we have a big barn.

Either this won't end well, or will be catapulted into the vanguard of epicnifiscence.

I do not have a link but I just went through the process of figuring out which year etc. Sold my 911 and was looking for a Cayenne. Seems 2005 mid-year manuf. date and up is good. Several problems seemed to pop up on some of the earlier ones. After listening to mechanics, talking to service advisors and reading articles I went looking for 06 CT I found and after 20000 miles, I am a happy camper. Some info on PCA website.

yep, I've done some research (outside of this forum) that suggest the same. It's awesome that I have to leave rennslist to find any pertinent info regarding buying one of these cars.....of course, I do enjoy the forum folks messing with me, as they are kinda amateurish at it and it's amusing.

my first Porsche

in 1973 on a crazy whim me and a buddy drove the newly opened Carretera Transpeninsular from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas, in the middle of nowhere at night the accelerator cable broke, luckily I had an icepick and we removed the cabin light between the seats and punched a hole through to the engine, hand held the cable to control gas and proceeded on to La Paz where a VW dealer repaired the vehicle.

Please direct us to a single better source of detailed pertinent information than Lewis gave in post 32. Just one.

Waiting.
