Default Battery replacement

Battery is dead, bought a new one. I did a search but couldnt find anything on actual replacement process. The book only shows how to remove one out of the back but this is under the seat i believe. Can you guys give me some tips??? 6cylinder 05 Cayenne.

Thanks

The seat comes out pretty easily. Your owners manual should give you the exact step by step instructions on how to change the battery. While I haven't changed mine I do remember reading it in the owners manual.

I put the key in ignition and its locked in there now, manual sais to stick a pen in that hole next to ignition and it will come out. Mine will not come out no matter what i do. Would it be ok to change battery with the key still in the ignition, but in the off position???

Personally I wouldn't change the battery with the key stuck in the ignition. You never know what could go wrong with the electronics. Maybe try something smaller than a pen in the hole like a paper clip. The pen may not be depressing the inside of the ignition switch to release the key.

Holy cow, what a bitch of a job that was!!!!Ive never had to work so hard to get a battery out in in my life!! Put a jumper box up to it, gave it enough power to get key out. All is well now.
PSM light is on...........will i have to take it to Porsche now to get everything reset or are there some things that i can do to make sure everything is set the way it needs to be???

Everything should reset in a few cycles. I remember having the PSM light on for a day after too.

Did you take the seat out? I thought you only needed to remove the front bolts and tilt the seat (base and all) back?

Hi guys

I am trying to replace mine. the thing is I am unable to remove the plastic trim at the drivers seat, did you just pull it or there is release button somewhere? I did try pulling it and it didn't come out if I pul more I might cause damage?

can you please help. the new battery is waiting to be fitted.

Been over a year since I checked my battery but IIRC the plastic seat rail trim does not need to come off. You remove 2 bolts that are in the floorboard area just in front of the seat base platform. You will need to remove the floormat to get to the bolts.

Sounds like you're trying to remove the seat at the rails, that is not the way they're done. Remove the 2 bolts and then tilt the entire seat (and platform) back.

Like I said, been over a year but I think that's correct.

There is another thread with pictures on here somewhere.

Edit: Looks like I'm wrong again....thread with pics

Here's a poorly shot video that should answer all your questions.
