Default Oil overfill question

Had oil changed and next morning went out to check the dipstick and the oil was about a centimeter over the top of the max fill range. Is that a big deal, should i get under and drain a little out?? Its a 6 cylinder.

Thanks
JERRY

I have drained for far less overfill than that. But I can not say exactly how much is too much, sorry.

You might try sucking some oil out through the dipstick tube with a thin hose attached to some sort of vacuum device if getting under the car is a hazzle.

1 cm = 10 mm = 60% of the dipstick range between add & full = +/- 3/4 litre!!!
Yes! As mmmbeer recommends, use something like a commercial syringe with a long tube that can be inserted into the dipstick tube.

Overfilling can damage your catalytic converters!

Also, call your service agency and advise them of their mistake!

I agree with the other posters. Also, a great argument for DIY oil changes.
