Default 04 S Humming Noise Question

Hi Guys,

New to this forum but I am a member of other one (i.e. audizine, audiworld, myis, mbworld, evolutionm, evowned etc) I have been searching for some similar noise problems on my 04 S but have not found anything. I have owned a lot of cars but never had this problem before. The car humms when you drive it over 40+mph and released the gas pedal. It stops when you step on the pedal no matter how fast your going but as soon as you release it, it goise back.

I hear the noise comming from the front of the car. I tried to put the car neutral when @ 40+mph without stepping on the gas and the noise is still there. My tranny shifts fine. I am wondering anybody had this issue to their car. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just a guess, since cardan shaft is too obvious...

Sounds like a tire issue.

Probably not cause it does not make the noise when you step on the gas, its not constant and only come up over 40+mph.

It is fairly easy to check a cardan shaft with a P!g up on the lift.
Much like coils, it is expected at some point in time for the cardan shaft to need replacement.

Certainly if it's under warranty, bring it in.
If it is out of warranty, search the forums for feedback on new OEM vs Vertex Auto cardan shafts.

If you think it's the tires, try swapping Front to Rear, unless you just have a very hard tire with a noisy tread pattern. Road force balancing is another quick check.

Humming is sometimes what a Cardan shaft will do before it turns to an out of balance 'thump', but it might also be the front end diff/bearings, in the thead I posted.
It's just hard diagnosing from basic descriptions...and P!gs have many many ailments to chose from.

My car pig just developed the hum as well, but it does not matter of the car is moving or speed. Same hum at idle as there is at speed.
