I just traded in my '04 996 on a new 2010 Cayenne Tiptronic S.
I had the dealer install the Porsche towing system, part number
955-044-002-74
I was told at delivery that a "standard 7 pin plug" was located behind the metal plate screwed over a hole to the left of the receiver.
Opened the metal plate yesterday to find a 7 pin receiver, but not the basic blade variety I expected to find there.
I've attached a picture
Did they install the proper stuff? Where do I find an adapter? I spent yesterday morning at all my local auto parts places looking for one. Any advice appreciated.

I had the same thing happen. I just went to the Porsche dealer and they gave me the part. But I did have some electrical problems after- my alarm would go off by itself it only lasted a couple of hours though. but after that all is fine.

Welcome to RL. I would suggest becoming familiar with the Search function, as this question has been asked many times before.
That having been said, your dealer failed to install a standard 7 pin Pollack adapter, which can be found at any trailer shop or online ( www.etrailer.com. Or similar )
It is also forum tradition for new members to post pictures of their new vehicles ... Yes, even Cayennes.

thanks - got 2 parts from Porsche dealer - PNA-955118-93 (connector) and PNA-955-127-08 (7-4 way).
i know, i know, i could've gotten the 4 way anywhere, but i was standing there and they had it...
no pictures of cayenne yet, will later.

Thank goodness for internet message forums. I needed to tow a trailer TONIGHT and was just able to get to my Porsche dealer across town before they closed. They were the only people in town to have one of these, and I got the last one they had.
