Default Thunk

Perhaps my first Cayenne issue... 04 S 57K miles w/Air Suspension

I did some searching but asking anyways...
When I decelerate from speed to a slow stop or come to a full stop sometimes I hear and feel a thunk!

Carden shaft?

Otherwise, no issues or vibrations..

Thanks!

Either that or a control arm with a really bad bushing.

Default a few thoughts

Try dropping it into neutral just before coming to a full stop.
That should isolate the driveline from the suspension and brake calipers.
If the clunk goes away and all is smooth you can concentrate on the tranny and driveline.
If the clunk persists look to the brakes or control arm bushings perhaps.
Have someone who trusts you stand next to the spot you are coming to a stop at and watch for any unusual wheel movement or hop, that may help you narrow it down.

When my "shaft" started acting up I had an intermittent squeal that sounded like a fan motor in need of oil.
Good luck, keep us posted

control arm bushings. cardan shaft more like a midget in your center console trying to get out with a hammer.

I get that occasionally too, but it sounds like it is in the driveline. It's not a regular occurance, just occasional.

Marc, did you resolve this? Was it the transfer case module?

It just "stopped"

..... I am sure it will be back but it's been easily 9000+ miles since I heard it last.

Maybe the "thunk" has moved to the dashboard and is disguised as a "squeak" ?

Ha ha. I think he had to cross his fingers and hoped it went away.

Does the 996 or any 911 offset the karma of owning a 955?
