Default Track day in a Cayenne?

Anyone do a track day in their Cayenne? Pictures or video?

I instructed a gal with a Cayenne Turbo at the track and MAN what an amazing machine it was.
Love to see what it looks like from the OUTSIDE at speed.

Several years ago with my 05 turbo truck I did a wet BMW day at PIR. No rear wheel cars could keep up and the only other car in my league was a WRX. Was out briefly yesterday at PIR and it was wet. A yellow Corvette coming out on the main straight tank slapped the right and left wall. No injuries, air bags deployed and flat towed out of the city park!

I hate to think what the cost in brake pads (and tires!) would be over a season!

Hoo boy no doubt - the tires took a bit of a beating. Entertaining as it hopped/skidded with understeer, but the limits were HIGH.

Yeah, I'm sure it would be fun to do it once in a Cayenne Turbo! But since I already have a 951 track beast and 987S as a back-up vehicle, I feel no temptation to take my Cayenne S out on the track.

But I do have to say that when I did European delivery on my C-S back in '04 I was able to drive a factory demo C-S on test track in Leipzig, and that did result in some big grins on my part!

There are a couple local that do open lapping days here. The CTT can hold its own on the track! Passing all sorts of cars.

Are there any handling differences between the S with air suspension and the turbo?
I am considering taking my S to the ring.

I would guess that most (if not all) of the passing occurs on the straights and not in the turns.

Have you ever run a Cayenne on the track? They are VERY VERY impressive in the turns.

Most of our local tracks are tight enough that there is little to no passing in the turns anyway in any car.

This is the only one I have any pictures of, and it was doing it's passing in the straights. It was als not being caught up to in the corners, even by other fast cars. It was on snows too this day. The point really is that it can hang in some fashion on a track day.

Want to see some cool stuff watch all the stages of the Transyberia rally on Youtube.

Just search for Cayenne Transsyberia. Lots of high speed stuff, water crossings, mud, rocks.

OMFG! Those drifting videos are insane! I would love to see/experience that in person. I have autox'd ours but have not taken it to the track. The stock brakes are hopeless on the street. I would have to learn to drift just to slow for corners on the track.

Do you have a V6?

The turbo and S brakes were designed to provide almost 12g of braking force, the same as the 911.

A modern F1 car can achieve 4-5g of braking, 5.5-6g under certain aero conditions at high speed circuits like Montreal.

IIRC, the production car record for braking/deceleration is 1.3g, held by the Bugatti Veyron, which is aero assisted via the rear spoiler/air brake.

I find it impossible for a Cayenne to stop with 12g braking force/deceleration.
Could you possibly provide a reference for this statement?
