They did get better, PAG replaced a whole bunch of them, mine is the same year (from new, don't ask) Mine was changed out and the improvement was substantial but not as much as other manufacturers range.

It's the single button that irks me more than anything else. We have a ML320 and an E500 with a "lock" button and an "unlock" button. Works for me.

you can get that but basically you need to spend another $60K, the single works ok haha

You'll get used to the single button. It bothered me at first after being used to the double-button system on the Audi's we owned, but that went away. Horn beep will clarify the locking action.
