Tip issue.. & radio
Hi all,
Couple of items on my new to me S
Tip, shifts fine no problem in automatic mode, works perfect in manual mode using the steerting wheel controls but if you want to use the shifter it will only downhift if you push hard, it will not upshift.
Scanned with duranatic and no codes. Some kind of bad microwitch?
once the radio came on, nav and all works fine but there was no sound.
Reboot of the car solved it.. I searches and can I assume this is just a bug of some type?
Thanks!

Basically, based on certain random timing, the DSP can fail to bootload properly and the microcontroller doesn't detect it properly, leading to a muted (no audio) condition.
It was fixed with a firmware revision which was done by dealers at scheduled service via PIWIS (or early on via CDROM).
Due to the random timing, it is somewhat rare and will seldom repeat upon a restart attempt. Of course the only way to 'boot' the MOST system is to wait at least 5 minutes until the systems to go 'sleep' (remove the key and just sit in the vehicle doing nothing) or just pull the fuses and wait 2-3 minutes for the backup capacitors to fully discharge.
Of course if you are suddenly driving and the volume goes to 11 and stays there and you find there is no way to shut off the audio system....I have no idea.
