Advice on 2010 Exec Demo purchase
Hi folks
I am new to this forum -- enjoying reading the threads.
I am ready to purchase a 2010 Cayenne S but would really like to get some confirmation that I have found the right deal.
Current deal (that I walked away from yesterday to "think about") is for 2010 Cayenne S (sand white/beige) Exec demo (10,200 miles) with MSRP 73,010. The best deal I could negotiate was $58895 non CPO (remainder of mfr warranty) or $61,300 with CPO warranty. I drove it yesterday and is seems to be showroom with no identifiable wear and tear.
I have committed to purchasing a cayenne S and this seems like a good deal. This vehicle also has all the options I want and then some -- so I am inclined to accept.
Any comments or advice from the folks on this forum?

Thanks -- I have seen that advice a few times on the forum so I certainly respect the perspective. For me, though, I am really not willing to go over ~ $60 K, I much prefer the performance of the V8 over the V6, and I put a lot of miles on my cars so I am particularly keen on the CPO warranty on a 2010 with only 10K miles on it. So, as much as I would like to go for the 2011 -- I just dont see it happening financially for me.
I note you have an '08 S though. Anything I should be worried about?

If you are going to keep it awhile and put a bunch of miles on it, go with the CPO.

I hear you. It is tough to resist the 2011. Especially when if I buckled down I probably could come up with the extra $20K (or afford to finance the extra). But I like to have the extra cash for vacations and dining out (not to mention a kid in college in 4 years) so I am trying to be a little bit fiscally responsible. That sounds really funny in a Porsche forum but, you know, everything is a continuum and I just don't want to go too far down the slippery slope.
I have a '99 Boxster that I love and really don't pine too much for a newer one -- so I guess I can "make do" with a 2010 Cayenne.
... and yes, I will go with CPO.
But -- no one has really given an opinion yet on whether the 2010 deal I have sitting on the table is a good one. Any thoughts? They said it was their final price so maybe I cant do any better anyway -- but everyone wants to think they got a good deal.

The dealer is Paul Miller Porsche in Parsippiny NJ. They move a lot of Porsches so I was hoping to get better deal there. I already tried to get them to give me the $58895 deal to include the CPO -- they wouldn't bite and then I offered to split the difference to include CPO and they said they could go no lower than the offer I detailed in my original post and they let me walk out. I think they are also gouging me out of ~ $1K on my trade, but that car (2007 Lexus IS350) was driven pretty hard, has really high miles, needs new tires and has quite a few chipped paint marks on nose due to highway driving.
So ... I'd love to get another $1-2 K out of this deal but I also note that that local inventory is low on 2010 Cayenne S with low miles and this one is what I am looking for.

I haven't been in the market lately, so I can't tell you if it's a good deal or not. But, if it's heavily optioned the way you want it, I say pay the $2400 for the CPO and drive it home. I shopped for 1 1/2 years and the one I bought had every option I wanted save one and was absolutely pristine. I thought I overpaid by a couple thou at the time (with CPO). A year later I don't care. It really is a good example and, in retrospect, not a bad deal. And I've long ago forgot about the money.

You are lucky you walked..way overpriced!
Also the new 2011 is such a big improvement, why saddle yourself with the older model.
The new 2011 Cayenne S is a better car than an 05 CTT..on every level. I know you are looking at a 2010. I drove 2008, 2009 and 2010 but could never see enough difference to get me out of the the 2005. The 2011 is a quantum leap! So unless you can get the 2010 for around $50K with CPO I'd pass..and wait for the market to come to you..... the 2011 will help significantly.

If you really are going to drive it a lot the CPO becomes a very good deal - One of the benefits over new. Back when I was driving a lot I would look for a certified car with low miles and drive it for 80k over four years and always have it covered - selling it before the warranty ended.
If your not going to drive the 20K a year -- I think a better way to go is to get an older one. You can find Porsches that are two and often three years old that are perfect and option heavy. I see no big difference between the 08-10's -- and with the CPO your covered. I bought mine new only because they gave me a great price on an all black w/black trim and sport seats -- that no one wanted -- go figure??
When you factor the 10% miles cost and the normal discount that car would have received if purchased new -- Its nothing more than a milage credit off.

If money is tight enough to keep you out of the 2011, then pick up a 3 yr old CPO coming off of lease. No way I'd buy a new or near new 2010 with the '11's out. You'll get killed on depreciation. dave

In answer to your question, yes the price looks very reasonable. I doubt whether or not they will drop their pants even lower, however, a set of winter mats would be nice...no?
