Could high altitude cause air suspension warnings...
We just completed our cross country drive, and we are now residents of Evergreen, Colorado. Our new house is at roughly 7,500 feet of elevation, a far cry from Indiana.
The first drive in the Cayenne after getting here yesterday produced a previously unseen error message about the air suspension. I turned the engine off and restarted it, and I then cycled the suspension through a down/up cycle. Everything seems to be fine now. Could the altitude adjustment be the issue?

I doubt it. Everyone seems to have a different scenario. Some think it happens when it's hot, some when it's cold. No real pattern as far as I can tell.
I've had the warning intermittently for over a year now. So far, it always goes away.

Interesting. This is the first time we have seen it. It hasn't appeared again since I cycled it yesterday. I'll keep my eye on it and ask the dealer about it when it goes in for the next service in a few thousand miles.

Since then I've had it occur on a random basis. Sometimes 2 or 3 times in one day, sometimes weeks go by and no error message. I've never been able to tie it to a specific event or condition - hot, cold, pothole, you name it. The tech and I have agreed to just wait until something visibly breaks.
Sometimes I will hear the compressor running when I start the car and the warning light will come on. Other times, not.
I too at first thought it must be altitude related but I have found no support for that theory.
I believe I started a thread on this issue last fall. You might find it or other posts with a search on "air suspension" or something similar. Let us know if you get to the bottom of it (so to speak).

Off topic........
What is the typical cost of repair of air suspension? I never opted for it because I got the base. And frankily it still one of the best handling cars I have had.
My mechanic mentioned to me that its adjustable and needs to be retightened every 60k miles.......any truth to that?

My battery is only 2 years old, so I doubt that's it. I just found it strange that the only time it happened was on the day that we drove from the flatlands into the mountains. I'm still convinced that it is an altitude issue. It hasn't happened again since I cycled it through all the levels.

If it becomes a recurrent problem, consider trying this solution:
