Default Peeling on the shifter ****

The silver aluminum-look button on my gear selector **** has started to bubble and peel. I know people have had issues with the steering wheel buttons, but I haven't heard of it on the shifter ****.

I assume the entire **** must be replaced, but does anybody know if I can just replace the peeling button? I've got the dark wooden shifter ****, and I hate to replace the whole thing if I don't have to...

Thanks.

Dennis,

Why not just pull it off and repaint it? Cheaper and easier.

It really doesn't have to match all that closely... the button faces forward, and you can hardly see it.

I'm sure Eric at Bumperplugs could match the paint with no problems.
Apart from that, as DIY, I would try Wurth silver wheel paint and clear.

+1 on the Silver wheel paint. It's really close to the factory silver paint on all the plastic parts.

Hm, I just looked at my shifter **** and it's peeling as well, but it's really not visible and I had to really look for it.

Btw, I read the title as your thread as "Peeing on the shifter ****"

It looks like somebody peed on the shifter ****...

I didn't actually see the damage on mine, i felt it with my fingertips when pushing the button on the shift lever. At first, I thought it was just scratched. I took a closer look and saw the bubbling and peeling. It's getting worse now...
