LAST CALL!! You're Invited! Fiesta Challenge in San Antonio
Fiesta, bluebonnets and Porsches come together once again for the annual Longhorn Region Fiesta Challenge in San Antonio! Put April 16th and 17th on your calendar now to participate in these great events along with your fellow Porsche enthusiasts! PCA membership is NOT required! This year, The Porsche Center of San Antonio has graciously sponsored all of the Fiesta Challenge events and all proceeds go to Wounded Warriors, so come on out to support our sponsor as well as the men and women who have sacrificed so much.
For those not familiar with San Antonio’s annual Fiesta, it is an eleven day series of parties, parades and events throughout the city that has been going on for over 100 years. Fiesta draws in folks from all over Texas and nationally. Go to www.fiesta-sa.org for more information and a schedule of Fiesta. Come to San Antonio for Fiesta and come to San Antonio for Fiesta Challenge!
On Friday, April 16th, we have a 6:30 dinner at Pompeii Restaurant (16109 Nacogdoches Rd) followed by a Tech Quiz at 7:30. The Tech Quiz will have a lot more of the very interesting questions and a lot less of the dry specifications, so you’re bound to learn something that will make you say, “I didn’t know that- cool!”. Even if you don’t plan to do the Tech Quiz, you are welcomed and encouraged to join the rest of the gang for dinner.
The Concours will once again be on Saturday morning, April 17th, on the back lawn at Fair Oaks County Club in Fair Oaks, TX, which is immediately to the northwest of San Antonio off of I-10. Registration is from 7:30 to 9:00 and judging starts at 10:00. This is a fun “top only” event, so no need to scrub the engine or wheel wells. Just give your Porsche the annual cleaning/waxing that you’ve been putting off and come on out! There’s always something interesting to see and learn, plus The Porsche Center will be displaying some of the latest and greatest machinery from Stuttgart.
Immediately following the Concours is the luncheon and awards for the Tech Quiz and Concours at 11:30 on the Country Club’s back deck. You’re welcome to join the group for lunch even if you’ve just come out as a spectator.
Following the luncheon, at 1:00PM, we’ll have a somewhat unusual rally event that you’ll find relaxed and totally enjoyable. Rather than a timed event, the shortest distance after clearing all the checkpoints and finishing is the winner. You choose your own course to each checkpoint. You choose how slow or fast you want to go. You choose when to pull over to look at something interesting. With the early rains we’ve had, we expect lots of opportunities to stop and take pictures of Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush or to look around that little shop in one of the small towns along the way. You’ll going to end up just east of San Antonio at Kirby’s in Seguin around 5-ish for awards and for something cold and wet. If you haven’t rallied before, be sure to make this your first one!
As always, all of these events are open to both PCA members and non-members, so bring a friend or fellow Porsche owner who hasn’t yet joined PCA. For entry forms or additional information, please PM or email me at jag70c@hotmail.com.
Our thanks to The Porsche Center for sponsoring this event as well as to those in the Armed Services who protect our freedom and us.
See you there!

I’ve had a couple of questions about fees and the charity. There is a small fee for each of the events ranging from $5 to $20. The Porsche Center's generous sponsorship is defraying most of the cost so that we can keep the entry fees very reasonable while maximizing our charitable giving. This is NOT a fund-raiser for Longhorn Region's bank account- we make nothing on the deal. The objective is to have a great time with folks with similar interests and, at the same time, give to a worthy cause.
This year's charity is Wounded Warriors. San Antonio is very much a military town and a lot of the seriously wounded soldiers end up here at BAMC. Our ultimate plan is to not only donate the money to help them, but also put together a car show/drive with all the SA area car clubs exclusively for these soldiers.
Come join us!!
