Default Coolant tubes or water pump

Hi,

I have a 2005 CS with 82k miles. I've owned it for just over a year with no issues and never added coolant. Three weeks ago the dummy light came on and it was extremely low (below the minimum marker). I filled it up to about maximum and prior to that had never added coolant before, nor had I ever seen a drop of coolant on the garage floor. I checked it again today and the level was just below the minimum. Again in the last three weeks there has never been a drop of coolant in the garage. For some time now (few months) I have noticed a weird low sound (swish, swish) coming from the front of the car. Could this sound be the water pump failing and that be the cause of the low coolant or would there be coolant everywhere if its the pump? Or is it most likely that I have a crack in the coolant tubes that need to be replaced? Thanks

even money on the tubes. and the low coolant level could be affecting the pump. i had a sound in the front of the motor when the tubes were going bad. if you get the tubes done, change the pump and pulley also. Definitely a while your in there job. i did both at the same time. pump was easier than i thought it was going to be.

I believe the more appropriate expression would be $1374 down the drain...same thing I suppose.

This plastic coolant tube fiasco is a bit embarassing, but not totally unexpected.
