Default New tires ordered... getting them installed on Saturday...

After researching tires once again, I decided to give the Continental ExtremeContact DWS a try. I am having them installed on Saturday afternoon. The Hankook Ventus tires that are coming off are badly worn, and are really making lots of noise. I was actually quite pleased with the Hankooks for the first 20,000 miles, but they went downhill fast after that. I ended up getting about 36,000 miles out of them, but they probably should have been changed a few thousand miles ago.

I've heard good things about the Contis, and I hope they do well.

I'm putting them on the Cayenne.

Buddy of mine has them on their Cayenne 20" wheels and they ride well. Good luck.

New Contis are on. They look good. I hope they live up the hype.

I'm thinking of downsizing the tires and wheels on my Cayenne GTS from 21 to 20 and going with the Mich Latitude. Reason, more sidewall for the pitfalls of normal driving. Anyone done this?

The DWS is probably the number one selling performance all season we carry right now. Hope you like them.

Dennis - curious how you like them compared to the Nokians.

I went from the stock 18's to 20's, didn't want to go all the way to 21's partially for that reason, partly to the availability/price of 20's over 21's. However since I really like the looks of the GTS wheels I went w/ (Chinese) GTS reps. (apx $575 set) however I have since found Italian GTS reps. at WheelDynamics.com for about $1200 set.

I love the GTS' in 20", wish I had done it earlier.

I downsized from the OE 21's to 18's with Pirelli ATR's. Much better in the wet and off-road (obviously), and unbelievable in terms of resistance to hydroplanning. 21's are garage art for now. Even with AT tires, the GTS w/ PDCC still handles amazingly in the dry, and I do not worry about charging the commute lane through San Francisco, which is laden with gutters, pot holes and broken pavement.

I never actually had Nokians on this vehicle. The OEM tire was a summer-only Continental. I believe it was the Continental 4x4 SportContact. They were very nice on dry pavement, but they were totally shot at roughly 24K miles. I then tried Hankook Ventus tires on the Cayenne. They weren't bad for the first 20K miles or so, but then they became very loud.

I'm still in the honeymoon phase with the new Contis - less than 500 miles on them. They are so smooth and quiet that I think they're great. We'll see how that goes after about 15 - 20K and then I'll report again.

Had the Cayenne out in snow yesterday with the new Contis on. Nothing major - maybe 3 inches on the roads. It performed very well. I was quite impressed, especially for an all-season tire. I was actually out in the Carrera earlier in the day proper winter tires on, and it didn't handle that much better than the Cayenne did.

So far - thumbs up for the Contis!

I haven't had the Carrera out in the snow this year, but I think I actually prefer it in terms of handling in comparison to the Cayenne. Just more predictable.

I got stuck in an unexpected snow flurry in icy conditions in the Cayenne yesterday, and I was NOT impressed with how it slid around like a snake........at one point I was convinced I was about to plough into the back of a 3 series before it suddenly stopped. Not a pleasant experience.

I just got in from having our Pepper TT out in the snow/ice/sleet that we've been experiencing since yesterday. The new Yoko Parada's performed excellent compared to the worn out summer tires they replaced. The Pepper actually went through the snow better than my 4runner!

Glad to hear, I'm taking my wifey to snowboard for the valentine's day.

I also have 20" yoko parada's on my CS, always wondered how would they perform.
