Default well Thursday's the day.. Cayenne get's new innards!

Well the 04 CS is going into the shop(finally) on Thursday for the dreaded coolant pipe replacement. However Boardwalk Porsche in Plano, Tx was nice enough to let ME provide the OEM parts for the repair. I was very surprised that they allowed it, and they said it was because I bought the "kit" from Suncoast. Otherwise they wouldn't have been able to use the parts or warranty the work. I was able to save 600-700$ on parts alone(based on their original quote) so instead of $2300 for parts/labor it should only be around $1500-1600. I had been tempted to let a small local "shop" do this repair but I just know very little about them and figure it's worth 500 bucks to let the actual Porsche repair house fix the car. I have a long way to go on this note and can't afford to have a fouled up motor. Perhaps I'll use the local guy for regular service and things that. Wish me luck! ( like no head gasket problems) and that my beloved little p!g will be back very soon... man I miss driving this thing

Just went through the same thing but not under warranty. Wondering what will go next in it.

My repairs will not covered by my "Comprehensive Extended Warranty (what a joke) So I was wondering what the repairs for coolant pipes cost where you had the work done.. Did the dealership supply the parts? What did the labor run? Did YOU experience any white smoke from the exhaust after they blew up?

Your dealer is raping people on parts, it's a $1500 job with retail parts. I bought all of the parts plus 2 gallons of fluid for $450 from Sunset

Based on what I've gathered so far, it sounds like you had yours replaced under warranty after coolant blasted all over,,, the starter might go out next, since it was showered with the coolant fluid, also the seal on the transmission or transfer case will go bad w/ the coolant shower as well.

I personally have not seen a starter or any seal go bad after the coolant pipes fail and I've been replacing these pipes since before they updated from plastic to metal.

I've been hearing a mixed opinion on this topic, I guess it depends on how/where the plastic pipes fail.

In this an in the car experience our out of car experience. I though early fixes were to drop the motor to pull the tubes out the front. But it's sounding like this can be done with the engine left in place. Although i'm sure there is a ton of plastic parts that need to be removed and driving up the cost. Kind of like an oil service. They spend an hour removing panels just to get to the drain plug.
