Default Check engine light came on...

Knock on wood but this is the first problem we've had with our 2005 CTT. It is still running fine (same power, etc) but the check engine light came on during my drive to work the other day. I'm going to get it into my indy asap but I'm wondering if it can be a serious problem since it's still running fine?

TIA!

Since the discussion has gone off on a tangent...

I'm going to get it into my indy asap but I'm wondering if it can be a serious problem since it's still running fine and the gas cap is on correctly.

TIA!

Why would it be a serious problem? Had CEL come on a gazillion times (so STFF). It was always evap related. And as long as it's not flashing, you should be fine driving.

Damn! Who would have thought I'd become such an expert?

I wasn't sure... I just thought it had already happened to someone else here and I could get some feedback.

Thanks for the info!

Sorry I didn't provide more detail in my response. It has happened to me, and it was the gas cap each time. EW is right, as long as it isn't flashing, there's no need to rush to the dealer. My guess is that if you fill up with gas again and make sure the cap is on really tight, then the CEL will go away.

Larry, I think I finally found what to replace "addict" with. I think "Just call me Pops" will look nice there. Especially in light of my userpic
