Default How satisfied are you with your Cayenne

I'm thinking of getting back into the Porsche thing. I'm looking seriously at a new Cayenne. Just a straight Cayenne, nothing fancy...I need the 4WD and the SUV room. I'd like thoughts on the manual transmission vs. auto.

Any thoughts or opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

Very satisfied. It's comfortable and did very good last winter in the snow and ice. We had a lot of snow last winter and it handled it fine. I don't have any complaints about this car, will probably keep it until the warranty runs out. Mine is an '09, auto, had it just over a year. I wanted bluetooth and a way to plug in my IPOD and it came with both.

The base Cayenne is a great unit. No, it doesn't have the grunt of the V8 but with direct injection and new transmission mapping the problems with the first V6 have been solved. We drive it mostly in the city and couldn't be happier with it, especially in the snow.
Try and get an 09 with Bluetooth and iPod connection, I have an 08 and miss those options. Other things to get include Xenon headlights and comfort package.

Cayennes are fairly small inside. If you're looking for SUV room, you might be disappointed.

Best all around car/ truck I have ever owned. No issues with dependability, fun to drive, handles well, tows out of its class. A great tow vehicle for it's size, very good in snow with right tires, can rock in the curves when set to sport. Expensive to buy and maintain but very high value. I plan to own and drive for 150K to 200K miles. A fun car.

I'm a new 2010 Cayenne owner, having had mine for about 2 weeks. I've been somewhat disappointed in the vehicle. It has a harsh ride, even with the Comfort setting; but I guess it is a sports car first and foremost.

The size is a bit constricting. I'm 6'4" and 260 lbs. Leg room in the driver's seat is too short; and forget about folding the rear seat on the driver's side for more cargo space. I can't even get into the driver's seat when it's folded.

Also, the drive train is quite noisy and is not smooth. Mine has the GTS engine and TipTronic transmission. City driving produces a stumbling drive through gears 4 and 5 - almost like an engine miss; and there is a low to medium pitched whine from the engine and/or transmission.

For the money spent, I'm a more than a bit underwhelmed.

1 month into an 05CTT and absolutely love it. We have a Boxster and a modified 05 Subaru Outback turbo wagon (say bye-bye). CTT is incredible. Ride is perfect for us as we live to drive. Tranny shifting is very intuitive on the fly and putting around town. Power of the CTT is epic. Handling for a 5K SUV is impressive. In the market, there is nothing else close for a driver's car. All else are mobile couches. Wish the seat was firmer is the only design change I would like.

the manual tranny is fun in these and really adds to the connection of the truck. they make the only V8 manual if you want that extra power.

get air suspension on whatever model you get though.

No it's not, It's a big lumbering SUV.

I love mine, but it's not a sports car.

Yup. Wanna buy it? Other than the tires, it's ready for off road.

After a bunch of repairs ('05 CS, '04 build, purchased new) and a few dozen miles short of 100k it pains me to say that I love my P!G and I would love to jump into the new one. Unfortunately, I don't like what I'm seeing from the photos, but the verdict will be made once I see it in person.

I like the Tip on my CS. Its great in heavy commuting/stop and go traffic, and not bad on open roads when you shift over. Its not a 911, its a truck.
