Question Display in Dash Flickers - 2006 Cayenne S

Hello,

I just recently purchased a 2006 Cayenne S.

The display (where it says Main Menu) sometimes flickers. Sometimes it is very light flickering where you can still read everything and it is only in certain areas. Other times the entire thing flickers so bad you can't even read it. And yet other times it is perfectly clear the way it should be.

What could this possibly be? Is this a DIY?

Thanks

Uh oh, you need to quickly find out whether yours is an Autobot or Decepticon.

I have seen this from time to time. I have a feeling it is related to the ambient temp. I have seen this in very cold 10 F and below and pretty hot 100 F plus. The LCD display is a little sensitive to temp. If it is under warranty you may be able to get the cluster replaced. I have done a few for this complaint over the years. I have also seen cracked ignition coils cause the speaker to become distorted. Welcome to the pig pen!!

I'd say replace the cluster which is not a DIY and is not cheap.

If you are out of warranty and decide to change the instrument cluster it is possible to use a cluster from the Turbo. You get a much nicer color display.

There are DIY instructions on the other "renn" Porsche forum.

I've heard there are some instrument cluster repair shops that can replace just the screen. I'm not sure on the cost, but it might be worth calling around. Otherwise its replace the cluster.

You guys are much nicer around here. We don't answer questions until pictures of the car is posted first.
