Considering purchasing 04 Cayenne v6...what to expect?
04 cayenne v6 w/ only 27k miles, stored in garage, no major engine issues, maintained/serviced routinely at dealership, warranty expired but recalls/TSB up to date...plan on paying $18k for it and will save $3,500 for emergency repair fund..
This seems like great deal up front but am I asking for trouble in terms of anticipated future engine/electrical breakdowns?

Use the search tool and do some research. The issues with the 2004 Cayenne are well documented here. You probably won't have any issues with the engine, but there are other issues that can be expensive.
Are you buying it from a dealer or a private party? Have you considered an aftermarket warranty? A good aftermarket warranty will set you back somewhere in the neighborhood of $3,500, and this might not be a bad call.
Have you reviewed the service history? If you do, you will see if any major components have been replaced or any other warranty work has been done.

seeking positive experiences out there? do they exist?
buying from private seller, a client of mine whom i trust...i have done a fair share of extensive research on the vehicle's maintenance/service (no major parts replaced except for recalls) as well as this and other forum's experiences...i guess i just wanted to hear more positive experiences out there, that they do exist, since i know most forum posts are owner's problems seeking solutions...i have made notes of all extensive negative things documented and many of the reputable warranty companies will not cover this car...i have had it for a week of daily driving and though the 04 cayenne v6 is on the low end of porsche vehicles its still unlike anything i have experienced...guess its too late, i have made of my mind already otherwise i would be roaming honda forums by now!!!

Ummmm, you may want to check the year. Someone correct me here, but I don't think the V6 made it on to the scene until 2006.

I was wondering about that too, but I wasn't sure... I thought it was 2005.

2004 was first year for V6 (I think they came out late production cycle - i.e. all made in 2004). Only know because I test drove one of those hot rods.
Good luck; I wouldn't be too worried about buying one especially if you're buying it from someone whom you know and trust and took care of it. Even if it is an 04...You're $3,500 fund should cover most of the "known" problems.

Let's face it, we really don't know. But since it's a V6 you have to take the plastic coolant pipes out of your equation...
