I searched but did not find any recent posts about Touareg vs Cayenne. I had a 2005 Touareg V8 and loved it. Was a late build and never had one problem in 30,000 miles. I am thinking that I might want to go back to a Touareg or possibly Cayenne.
Cayenne would have to be "S" or maybe even GTS.
Touareg would be V8 or new V6 TDI.
Thoughts?

My understanding is that they drive very differently, even though they share platforms. I'd drive each one, and then decide.
I drove a first generation Touareg when I was considering buying my Cayenne, and the driving characteristics were very different. I haven't driven the second generation Touareg.

you will defintely pick the cayenne after driving.. i've driven the v8 and the v10 tdi..
I still prefer the cayenne...touareg's are cheaper but with the market now.. you can get an S for a good price..
test drive both , and drive it hard..

I'm driving the Touareg DTI this week and am very impressed with the torque but not with the handling and suspension. The torque of the DTI is similar to a V8 but the soft ride and wallowing feel in the corners leave me wanting the Cayenne back.

Like many have said above, they drive totally different. The 2 might share a lot of parts but the Touareg is the comfy one and the Cayenne is the sporty one. Also, in case you are not aware, the 2 V8 are completely different. IIRC, the front & rear % of power on the all wheel drive system is also different which may be the reason why they drive so different.

I sell both and bought the Treg. Coming from a Range Rover it felt better to me, plus the interior is nicer. Kind of comes down to badge too, if that matters to you. I like the stealthyness of the Treg. Already have a Porsche.
The Treg is a 50/50 split on power w/the AWD system. Cayenne is more rear wheel biased, to feel more sports car like. Both are great rigs.
