Default Fair Price: 2006 CS, 31k miles

I am trying find if the dealer has a good price for a 2006 black titanium CayenneS. The car looks/drives very well, it has 31k miles, they are asking $42,000. It has steel springs, but plenty of other nice add ons. What do you guys think of this price: $42,000...?

Depending on the condition of the vehicle, it doesn't seem way off base. Can the dealer provide you with maintenance history on the vehicle? Depending on the date the vehicle was placed in service, you could still have a fair amount of factory warranty left. This is a good thing. If it was put in service in late 2005, then your factory warranty will run out at 4 years, which will be soon. If it was placed into service in late 2006 or even 2007, you're in much better shape. Any idea how much warranty is left?

Price seems high to me. Nothing special about that pig.
$39K max, with a CPO warranty.

I haven't looked out on autotrader or ebay to see how others are selling... evozine have you done this? How does it compare? Also, remember that $42K is the starting point for your negotiation. It's a buyer's market!

I wouldn't pay any more than $35K.

I'm also looking for an 06 or more likely 08 and have been watching prices and inventory very closely on the East coast. I'd expect that car to be around $35K after negotiation. I'd also expect (demand) a CPO at that price which that one seems to lack.

The Titanium Cayennes carry a $5k premium for reasons I don't understand. An equally equiped CS can be had in mid $30's and is the way to go. dave

Default Cayenne S prices...

Great advice, I will factor all of this in If I decide to move on this...

The car is in excellent/new condition. It's drives like a new car. I believe the saleman said they had applied a dealer warranty until 100k miles.

I think I need to drive a turbo with the air suspension to see what I might be missing. Hell, why I'm at it, I might as well drive a turbo- A guy has a 2004 turbo with low miles listed for 33k on craigslist...

Lot's of decisions, but I am no rush, the E 420 benz has no problems, but I would really like the Cayenne upgrade...

I'd name your price, they are not exactly flying off the shelf. Under $40k for sure. As much as I hate to say it $35k is probably the right price.

I don't even know what I can get for my 05 CS.

Evozine... just picked up an '08 GTS myself. Great car, truck, suv.. whatever you want to call it. Air suspension is very, very nice and worth it if you are going to have larger wheels. Mine also has PDCC which is a killer option.

I've seen CPO'd 2006 Titaninum Edition CS listings in the mid to upper 30s, so you should be able to get the price down.

On a another note, if you are looking to spend more on a newer car, there is an '08 GTS in Fallbrook (decent options) and an '08 GTS in Corona del Mar (more options, eg. full leather) listed on an online reseller site that you might want to look. Both prices are inflated, but I'm sure they would come down if you let them see some comparables that sold for far less (then you could turn around and CPO the car if you want).

Good luck!

Just bought (received today) a 2006 red Titanium edition CS. Paid $35,100. Clean CarFax. 38K miles. This was not easy to find, though. Many other dealers wanted more for similar vehicles.

Wow... that seems like a really good deal.

Given that, the deal evozine is looking at is way too high.

Yeah, they were asking too much, but it looks like it already sold. I checked a few other sites, there are plenty of other 06 CS' out there when I am ready to buy.

Just for fun, I test drove a 2006 BMW X5 for comparison. It drives nice, and had great brakes, but there are so many on the road, and I prefer the look and handling of the cayenne...

Next test, I need to drive a Touareg V8...

IMO, the turbo and air suspension really add a lot. So, you might hunt around for a deal on a turbo. Also, as you may have read in the forum, 2003s and 2004s (the alpha and beta years) tend to be more problematic. The 2006+ years are better sorted out.

Instead of the Touareg V8, try the V10 diesel torque monster!
