noisy brakes and rapid wear

Had my CTT since Sept 2007. Bought it new and I'm the main driver. Currently just passed 5000 miles, mainly usual city driving, no tracking.
Front brakes were squeaking since few months ago, but no stopping issue. Called dealer a few times to complain and they said some squeaks from brakes are normal.
Got fed up and took into dealer for checkup. They found that front brake pads only 4mm left, rear pads at 6mm (normal is 12mm). Dealer said they've never seen such rapid wear before. They said when sensor comes on at 3mm left, then come in for brake pad change at my expense.
I'm wondering if anyone has heard of such rapid brakes wear before, and your experience in squeaky brakes. Thanks.

I haven't ever heard of them wearing out so fast. My original brakes lasted for roughly 40,000 miles.

I would say average life on front brakes is about 17-19k miles pads/rotors/sensors, rears usually last 24-25k. Some cars go 40k+ ive seen tem with less then 12k miles. Stop and go is hard on brakes on a 6000lb truck. Driving with 2 feet will also kill them.
Some noise is normal, there is always a sacrifce in anyhing. In order to have te race inspired stopping power of porsche brakes they may make a little noise. There are some things you can do to quiet them down but you will likely always have some noise

I have '06 Turbo S. Got them big honkin' 15" rotors up front. You won't believe this 'cause I don't. I have over 53,000 miles on the original brakes. Still good. Even had the dealer check them last time in. Dealer said "still good". I know there going to be expensive to replace but I think I'll replace with OEM stuff with this kind of wear rate.

I got over 50K on my front brakes before the pad wear sensor came on. I'm at 68.9K on the rears and the sensors haven't triggered yet. I keep an eye on the pad thickness, and it's getting close, but I'm going to wait until the sensor triggers the warning because I'm kind of curious just how long they will go.
