Default Is this normal?

Lately, my Cayenne (04 CS) produces the lovely smell of firecrackers under hard acceleration. Is this normal? Anyone else experience something like this? Really, I am not joking

Your coil packs are likely soon to expire.
It sounds as though you have ozone generated by electrical HV arcing....although there are other possibilities as well.

I just changed the coil packs about 5k ago with the new part ending in 05. Spark plugs too...hmmm I did have a problem with one of the screws holding one pack on - had dealer look at it and tech told me it should be fine. Maybe I'll check to see if it's loose.

What do you think some of the other possibilities are?

The smell of firecrackers would worry me a bit in any car!

This is not normal, even for Cayennes.

ltc can tell you about other "thermal events" with Cayenne hybrids... but this sounds like something entirely different.

I am! Combined with a little bit of "white stuff" in the oil (that was just changed two weeks ago), I think it might be a good time to trade this POS in. The extremely poor quality of this vehicle should be embarrasing to the manufacturer. Ironically, I always used to buy VW's and Audi's - never had anything more than a minor problem with four different ones. It's amusing that many on here are concerned that the Cayenne is too much VW. I'd much rather have VW's build quality thank you very much. Not too mention the fact that maintenance costs are probably half as expensive in a Toureg or Q7 than the Cayenne.
