Yes, it is normal. When it is cold, your Cayenne should start off in D1 until it warms up.

Not to take the thread too far OT, but have you seen the MTV unplugged DVD that features SRV on a 12-string acoustic? You can find some of the tracks on youtube. I have watched them on youtube a few times and I think I'll buy the DVD.
