Default Fabspeed Blows

I couldn't find anywhere else to get my BMC filter, so I reluctantly ordered it from Fabspeed.

After I got the bill I saw that they charged me $15 for shipping and another $5 for handling. Who charges for handling these days?

I got the filter today. Box is beat to hell, and all they did was slap a shipping label on the outside of the original box. $5 to slap a label on a box? I'll take that job. Let's see, 2 seconds to slap a label on, 60 secs in a minute, 8 hours in a workday...that comes out to roughly $72k per day.

Looks like I'm in the wrong business...

Sounds like a carrier problem to me , complain about the condition. It does cost money to handle products, have you ever been in business ?

I have had NOTHING but great experiences with Fabspeed....

I ended up buying the 1st CTT exhaust/bypass pipes they had available (back in 04), and had it installed at Fabspeed....... everything was perfect....

Then they swapped it off my 04 CTT and onto my 05 CTT for 50$, while re-installing the stock exhaust on the 04.....

And then, before the 08 AKA Rally (NYC to Vegas).....I brought it in the be tightened up and double checked, and Joe threw in the copper gaskets for free......

Also, did you bother googling Cayenne BMC Filter.....found a few sites that have them.....

Yes, I have been in business, and I consider it poor form to charge handling for slapping on a label to a pre-existing box. Handling should be to cover boxes, packing, and labor if needed for items that you actualy pack/handle.

BTW this just cariies over from my first experience with them when they shipped a cat bypass w/ no hardware. then promised to ship hardware and never did. I'm not an isolated case.

There was no outcome. I had to go to PepBoys to find some bolts that would work. Fabspeed never sent the hardware, and none of the bolts I chose fell off, so it ended there. I'm not going to hold these guys hands in order to get them to do their jobs.

I'm glad you have had good experiences with them, but if you check my catbypass posts over on Renntech you will see that I was not alone in these problems.

Hmmm. You might want to be carefull with putting to much weight on negative posts, they tend to be overstated by the hurt individual and are certainly not a sign of general problems. If we did no one would ever by a Porsche again.

This is Joe @ Fabspeed Motorsports. Your BMC filters should have been enclosed in another box and that must have been an oversight in our shipping department. Many companies charge handling charges and it is normal and customary and most compnaies are being given major FUEL surcharges for shipping by FED EX and UPS. Fabspeed shipping charges are reasonable.

If you would have called we would have responded and anyway I apologize for the small errors we might have made. On a good note..........the BMC filters and 2ndary catbypass pipes really woke up your Cayenne!

Have a great drving season and if you ever need anything for any of your other Porsche cars and or any new cars ask for me.

best regards.

PS I just bought a used Cayenne and I am joining up with all you guys!!!!

I had intended to refrain from posting about Fabspeed but my experience was very close to Medtech's

Here's the bulletized version:

- Ordered bypass pipes
- Received them in good order, well packed and very nice looking
- Went to install them.... Luckily I started with the passenger side as there was the issue.
- Unit mated to flex pipe (front) no problem but the end was too small to bolt to the secondary exhaust system.

As we all are, I'm pressed for time so I emailed Fabspeed with photo documentation of the issue and called to have the unit swapped with a properly finished one. Fabspeed advised me to find a muffler shop and have the unit flared to fit. They would not entertain returning the defective unit. Yes, I use the word defective as it did not perform to spec.

I'm in Dallas but muffler shops are not overly convenient for me to find. A few weeks go by and I have time (1 hour) to get them "modified" and am charged $20. I phone Fabspeed and advise them their defect cost me time and $20. They offered me a discount on the next purchase for my troubles. I didn't hint or ask for compensation, the offer on the next purchase was very presumptuous on their part.

By my small sampling of this post, it appears that if you show up at Joe's shop, he will take care of you. If you are mail-order, then you are on your own.

My experience is now about 1.5 years aged so emotions are no longer a factor. However, when paying top-dollar for a shiny exhaust piece, I expect to have issues handled much more professionally.

You SE Penn guys may have had better luck, but I can say my experience left me saying Fabspeed will never get another $0.10 from me.

Defend them all you want, but this is crappy business. My customers would fire me for this type of response.

Dear, Joe
Thanks for blowin smoke up my ***, felt niiice.

Welcome to the cayenne club. I hope you pay full price for all of your aftermarket equipment. When it arrives I hope it's missing a few pieces, that you never see. When you call, I hope you get a happy, but contrite answer, but no real results. Enjoy!

As for me...I'll be taking my business somewhere else.

I have NO affiliation with Fabspeed, except that I am a very happy customer....

This is the first thread I have ever seen where someone has been this unhappy with Fabspeed and their products, which would seem odd, if they operate their business in the ways you both claim.

As far as being local and getting better service, My Porsche service manager in CT ordered a CTT Exhaust/Bypass pipes for a customer after he heard my car and the installation, fit and finish was perfect, customer couldnt be happier. Also on 6speedonline.....MeanMachine....is located in the middle east, he has the Fabspeed exhaust and bypass pipes which were shipped from PA and had no installation problems whatsoever.

I agree that if the part is advertised as bolt on, that it should bolt right on, but needing a bit of flaring....costing $20 at a local muffler shop is not something I would consider a big deal...... I realize you guys are really busy and dont have time to mess around with installing parts on your cars..... but I dont think Fabspeed's parts or customer service warrant a thread titled....Fabspeed Blows.....

Medtech, after establishing contact with Joe within this thread dont you think it would have been worth a shot to work it out, now that he sees how unhappy you are.... instead of replying with such a negative, somewhat immature post, it makes me wonder how you handle conflicts that come up in your own line of business.....because yelling and name calling will often not get you very far....

and the last thing im going to say is this..... You guys all seem like successful business men......that own $60,000+ Cayenne's with some possibly reaching over $100,000.....are you guys really whining this much about an $80 filter and $700 bypass pipes....??????

The gaskets were included for $700, however when i went back a year later after the install from the 04 CTT onto my 05 CTT, he replaced the original gaskets with a set of brand new copper gaskets for free...... so thats 2 sets of gaskets with my original purchase....

CtTurbo,

I'm glad you have had such good experiences and are such a loyal supporter.

I don't believe I called anyone any names, and if you think that was yelling, I can only assume you haven't been yelled at recently.

Personally I didn't read anything in Joe's post that offered to make good on their mistake. The way I read it was "You should have called me before, but ur fine cause our product is perfect".

Am I nit picking? Yes. If this was a complicated piece of electronics, I could see having small issues. It's a piece of pipe. Shipping it out without hardware or instuctions then becomes a big deal (relatively speaking).

Perhaps I just have higher expectations. Perhaps I am a perfectionist. Either way freedom of speech entitles me to express my opinion. God bless America!

ps. If you would like to continue this interesting banter, please PM me.
