Default Brake Pad Shift

I got my calipers powder coated red recently on my '08 Cayenne. Look great but now I have pad shift the first time I hit the brakes when moving forward (after going in reverse) and visa versa. The result is a loud click from the pads. This is audible in the cabin and very annoying. I have had the car back to the shop that did the work and they showed me what was happening but did not have any ideas. The pads are actually shifting slightyly forward and back in the caliper. Anyone else experience this and have a possible resolution? Thanks.

You sure they are moving fore/aft?

I had the calipers on my motorcycle done and found that I had to reduce the thickness of coating in the pad area as they were sticking moving in/out.

I put my money on the pads hanging while clamping in/out.

Otherwise, you might look into seeing if the pads were installed correctly with all accessories (like anti-squeal shims if they have them).

Do you have the right pads? Whenever I have installed pads, its a bugger getting them in/out, so its really heard to imagine them shifting around in there. I take it that you didn't take it to a dealer and the shop is the one that painted the calipers?

Otherwise, what Scott says, makes sense. I would be pretty pissed to, masking tape it pretty cheap.
