You have to admit though, Sam's reply was pretty funny, especially since you know someone who designed this crap

I think the appropriate question should have been who asks for this crap to be designed. Lets not shoot the designer. Plus I'm sure that "he who we do not speak of" had nothing to do with that piece of crap. Please dont tell me im wrong.

Oh Oh !

I hope it's not one of the forum members who had anything to do with that "thing"

am I in big trouble?

It's just that after all the waiting I was expecting more from an OEM iPod connection designed by Porsche ...although I was serious to mention Steve Jobs, imagine Apple cutting edge design/simplicity combined with Porsche driving experience, Wow!

Ok you buzz killers. I took a second look and I guess you are all right. Pretty half-assed design. Desperation makes one think crazy thoughts.

Blame it on the fiber optics (I think it's called MOST) because I have arranged for the installation of the Harman Kardon.'s Drive & Play II on the CDR 220 for my 996 TT (non MOST), part from ebay $250, pro installation $150 (me not a great DIY), and you can see/control the iPod from a very nice click wheel similar to iPod's controls.

cheers

Its a good 'ol Cayenne Forum reunion...discussion of MOST and electronics in general seems to always inspire these get-togethers(!)

Back to the business at hand...just so I'm understanding, this unit essentially plays your iPod or other auxillary device through an FM modulator and you hear your source coming through an open frequency on your FM radio--is that it?

Careful now... I'll go dig up that Bi-Xenon thread and put EVERYPONE back to sleep with the details!.

BTW, I still love the story about WHO picks sound characteristics for our cars. Didn't someone "assist" her once with some amusing results?

Whatever are you talking about

You don't really believe that story of the wife of a PAG executive who during the Cayenne approval test drives was surprised when the audio system went from normal to (with props to Spinal Tap) volume setting "Eleven" and would not shut off, even if the keys were removed?

The next thing you'll tell me is that the person(s) responsible for this hideous act planned it so after the event, the code responsible was erased, along with any logged Diagnostic Trouble Codes, thus leaving it impossible to validate the alleged "Volume 11" incident?

What next? Hidden audio prompts in the soon to be unleashed upon an unsuspecting world PCM 3.0 ?
