Default Panoramic roof

I am ordering a 2009 GTS/manual and considering the panoramic roof. Wondering about squeeks, leaks, heat (sun in Atlanta), structural integrity, and any mechanical issues with current owners.

Wife is not a fan of the pano because she noticed the price. I can talk her though it (the manual was the hard part) but the above concerns have me leaning toward the standard moonroof.

We got one in our GTS and absolutely love it! No squeeks, rattles on noises. There is a shade that covers it and blocks the light. We're in Charlotte so no diff in summer heat. I highly recommend it in spite of the cost (you're going to pay $1k+ plus for a sunroof anyway.....

Default Thanks for the post.

I have a 2004 Cayenne S and have poured over the options ordering guide for this new GTS. I am getting the thermal glass to help with the black interior I am planning.

My current Pepper has the stone/steel grey. It has been bullet proof to date.

Had a friend who had the pano roof, and he went to have it towed one day (flat bed), but when pulling the car up, because of the angle, it tweaked the body, enough that it flexed the roof, and cracked a panel.
If this was a regular roof, wouldn't have been a problem, but with the all glass.... woops
I love the way it looks, just hesitant on its longevity/saftey.

Wow! Sounds like the wrecker did more than just tweak it. I seriously doubt it's that fragile.

Default Thanks guys for the comments

Looking at the structural diagrams of the Cayenne one would think that there might be a little less stiffness in the frame. I have not heard of iany issues/problems which is the reason for the post and questions. I love the roof and the additional light etc. Just looking for comments from long term pano drivers.

Great feature, no leaks or squeeks, adds great light to dreary NW winter days!

I agree with Leek. I have it on my GTS and on the BMW 4.8. just the fact that soo much light pours in was what made me order it.

And, on the BMW I have not had any issues. i am sure that I will have none on the GTS either.

the panos have been great very few problems, I have had to change a few. One took some building debre, one actually had a kids toy banged against it. We are starting to see a few early one with squeaks due to the seals not being lubed perodicaly (ie not serivced by us)
