Software or Elec Gremlins?

Software or Elec Gremlins?
I have an '06 CS that has been flawless until now. Yesterday, the following occurred:
1. On start-up, the wipers activated, came part way up and then retracted. The stalk was in the off position and was not bumped.
2. After parking the car and pulling the key out of the ignition, opening the door to exit caused the 'lights-on' alarm to sound. Cycling the light switch on and off would not reset alarm. Restarting and turning off the car caused the alarm to shut off.
3. Gas gauge shows empty so I stop for a refill. The gas pump shuts off after only 11 gallons but the gas gauge shows half a tank. My mileage log shows 220 miles since the last fill-up. I'm convinced the tank is full but the gauge shows half a tank.
4. While idling in a parking lot, the engine dies. This has never happened before. The car restarts without a problem.
I'm going to check the battery and disconnect it hoping to reboot the software. Anyone have any other ideas? Thanks in advance, dave

Recharge car battery to full. Then try it again.

The car gets driven every few days and the battery appears strong. I've got to hit the hardware store to get a star drive large enough to unbolt the front seat. Once complete, I'll be able to inspect the electrolyte levels in the battery. In the meantime, I'll put a trickle charger on it. I sure hope it's the battery and nothing more. dave
