Default Service Reminder

I have an 06 **** that I got in June 07 and now have 4400 miles on it. this morning I got a reminder on the display to have service done in 1900 miles.
I thought the first service was at 20,000 miles. What's up with this? I have Durametric's software so I can get rid of the reminder but why is the message up there already. Any thoughts ?

Time plays a role in this as well. If you don't hit the mileage it will still call for service based on elapsed time.

I purchased a CPO 2006 CTT with 1045 miles and drove the vehicle 1600 miles and the service reminder was displayed. It gave me 500 miles until service due.

Porsche service dept confirmed time & mileage are calculated. Another way to drive revenue for the dealerships !

Randy, do you know the in-service date of you ****? The service interval is 20K miles or 2 years.

I am in the same situation as you (have 12K miles only) and it looks like the Cayenne guesstimates when you will hit the 2-year mark based on your mileage run rate. In my case it was in the ballpark.

I am still debating whether to bring it in or wait to hit 20K.
I'll be calling a few dealers in my area to get an idea of how much the damage will be.

On more thing... it sprang a surprise on me this morning. Last Friday it was telling me service was due in 400 miles. This morning it said service needed now! It will be 2 years old in May.

The book has an" in service date" of 5/30/07 and the build date is 9/06.
Maybe 1900 miles between now and September would be on track.?

Wow, a build date of Sept '06 and In Svc of May '07, by chance does it say what the mileage was at the In Service Date? Reason I ask is I find it hard to believe the vehicle sat on a dealer lot for that long, it can happen though.

I think if the vehicle is used as a "loaner" vehicle the In Service starts at the time it starts it's loaner service and they add CPO warranty to the end. I don't know what is done to vehicles that are used for things like Porsche Driver's Training at Barber Motorsports Park in AL. I know those vehicles wind up in the dealer network just don't know what the designation is.

The car had 627 miles on it for the service date. I was told that the owner had taken it for a long weekend and that was why there was mileage on it.
I guess it could have been used for something else but that's what they told me.

My '06 Cayenne S service light came on at 14,000. I had it dealer serviced and it cost $500.00. I bought it new in the summer of 06. It now has a little over 18,000 miles on it. Is oil really $55.00/quart?

question: where do I find the build date?

You are averaging 490 miles per month since you got it so to September would be about 2900 miles from now. I think the warnings are premature if it is saying service is due in 1900 miles.

There must be something else going on.
