Is there a noticeable shaft play in the water pump when this sound is present ???

In that photo in post #35, above and to the left of camshaft #5 there are 3 pipes/tubes, are these the "coolant tubes" that have been failing and are being replaced by the metal tubes?

Yes Bill, the 3 pipes you can see are the upper pipes, and there is a larger lower pipe below them. The lower pipe is what in the past required the engine to be removed to repair, now it is a two piece metal design, using a billit aluminum insert and short length of water hose at the rear housing and metal tube with double o-rings at the t-state housing. The upper pipes are metal and share the same casting as the plastic pipes you see in the pic.

Spray it with belt dressing. If the squeaking changes, or the noise changes...it is your belt. They are $55 dollar at Rockauto.com. They take about 45 min to change, or 1/2 6 pack. (most of the time is taking off the cal-ling). If you pay 1000 plus to have some one else fix this...It funny. Rule number 1!!! KNOW YOUR MACHINE!!!!!
