Hi,
I'm currently waiting on a facelift 997 but the wife is trying to convince me towards a Cayenne for safety. currently living in the UAE. I would have at least a 9 month wait so I'm considering personal import from the US if I go this route.
I see some dealers including Mercedes and BMW prohibit their U.S. dealers from selling vehicles for export, how does this currently sit with Porsche?

For brand new vehicles, all of them are not "supposed" to export it. I have exported for friends in the past. Do you have any friends or family in the US that can buy it for you? Just don't tell them you are exporting it. Not much they can do about it.
Or you can look for one that has been registered so it is technically an used vehicle. Then the dealership can sell it to you for export without getting trouble with the manufacturer. Of course, finding one of those will be much tougher especially if you are looking for specific color & options.
