Default Transmission won't shift

2004 Cayenne S, 67k miles. Car seems to start in 3rd and won't upshift or downshift, either automatically or manually.

In dash display, instead of showing D2, D3, D4, etc or M2, M3, etc, just shows a constant D.

Any thoughts? I have an extended warranty so don't feel naked but still a little concerned.

Thanks.

Did you spill anything down the shifter? Can cause this effect.

Off to the shop with you.
It could be several things, none of which you can correct.
Flatbed transport preferred, especially since it sounds undriveable.

As Astro used to say, "Rutt-row, Elroy".

What was the final determination on this problem? I've got a 1991 964 C2 Tip that is exhibiting the exact same symptoms. Any help/info is most appreciated.

Matt,

You may want to post this in the 964 forum.

Best,
Marc

This whole "transmission shifting" thing is overrated.
