Oil service reset
I helped a friend change the oil on his 06 cayenne. Is there any way to reset the
service light w/o going to the dealer.
Thanks Charlie

I don't know if my independant has the reset tool since the only oil change I did so far was a break-in oil change before the computer told us to do it (10,000 miles vs. 20,000 miles recommended 1st oil change), but if he doesn't, the difference in price of my independant vs. dealer would pay the $247 to buy the reset tool!

Try this first, it seems to work on some cars (confirmed on (05 S)
"holding down odometer w/ key turn brought up Reset alert. Clicked Reset button on wiper arm, worked fine. Thanks!"

Has anyone tried this sequence with any success? Light says we have 1,500 miles to go (we're at 18,500), but being as I did an oil change at 10,000 was going to wait until 25,000 miles.... Otherwise, anyone know a cheaper place to buy a re-set tool?

Option A:
Ask a fellow Rennlist member (in any of the forums) if you could borrow their Durametric...offer to pay S/H and perhaps throw in a gift card or extend their Rennlist membership for a year as a thank you.
Option B:
Swing by your dealer and ask them to take PIWIS outside for a walk and clear the code. While you're there, stop by the Parts Department and buy something.
Option C:
Haven't fully thought this one thru yet, but it involves giving the Cayenne a Viking funeral.

I purchased the AutoEnginuity s/w pkg. a year or so ago before I knew about the Durametric tool, has anyone used AutoEnginuity to reset the oil service? It's kind of cryptic on their web site.

IMHO a good dealer would do it for free - it only takes a minute.

I e-mailed our dealer- I'll see what they say. They are only 5 minutes away, so maybe I'll just drive over there next weekend...my wife drives the car, so it's tough to get over there during the week.
