When I got my warranty I paid for all the major electronic items to be included. You will not get it cheaper than $1200 I don't think. Actually I think $1200 is a really good price from a stealer, are you sure they are not sharing the cost ?

I just got back from the dealer. It turns out that I need to replace the Nav Unit (Part No. 996.642.205.02). The price is about $1200! Ouch and not covered by the extended warranty(I intend to verify). If it isn't covered I would like recs on possible solutions. I have an ipod that I have been using wtih an FM transmitter. This may be my opportunity to upgrade my whole system without paying that kind of price. I sent an e-mail to Sunset Imports to get their price on the Nav Unit. Thanks guys!
Good luck. That is a big number.

I would guess that since it's an alpha, then it's a CDROM based NAV unit.....and the version is the last S/W release.....the one that will NEVER be updated again by PCNA, even though NAVTEQ can......oh wait, we've already over this before about a million times....never mind.

I also heard that Peter the Great will be hand delivering CDROM NAV updates AND free CPO warranty to all affected owners........If he wants to deliver those to Larry, he better bring a shovel to the cemetery.

Finally my habit of procrastination has paid off....
I got the new Navigation unit from Sunset last week. I had planned to have intstalled next Wednesday. However this morning my navigation system started working again. After two weeks of the System Error message on start up, this message stopped appearing. I popped in the Navigation CD and I'm back in business. Not really sure what happened. I believe the night before I thought I was in trouble when I tried to start the vehicle up and it was "dead". Figured the batteries were gone however after several more attempts the engine kcks in. I got several warnings to include check engine and suspension failure during the time I was trying to get the vehicle to start. Time for a refund and extra $$$ for more Christmas shopping......
