2004 Cayenne
Hello all,
Thinking of purchasing a 2004 Cayenne S. Mileage for available vehicles range from 17K-30K.
What is the reliability of this model year?
What scheduled maintenance needs to be completed for the mileage stated based upon a 2004? I want to make sure the dealer has completed this maintenance prior to my purchase.
For those who have a 2004 Cayenne S with significantly more mileage, what other trouble areas should I be concerned?
Thank you for your help!

Among some of the problems: Coils (pencil coils for ignition), Cardan shaft, headlamp assy condensation, assorted electrical gremlins (software for tranny, PCM etc), and a half a dozen more.
As far as the dealer doing "maintenance", aside from getting you up to date for your mileage, they won't "fix" this stuff unless you actually have an issue. There are people here that have shipped their Betas to a foreign land with no return address, and those who have never had any problems.
Luck and tolerance level will determine your satisfaction, but, IMO, the vehicle is so good that most of us will tolerate a little glitch here and there as long as a) we don't have to pay for it, and b) it stays fixed.

...cars produced after above date have RESOLVABLE and easy to fix issues (if not addressed already by the previous owner...) , ESPECIALLY TODAY, after all of them were completely discussed on this board and at the US dealer PORSCHE training classes...

ltc, what can I say? Something about this forum just makes me wax philosophical. At least I've cut back on my run-on sentences since my vacation at the Villa.
RJT, if women like you - and their Porsches - truly were everywhere, I'd either be in heaven or my adolescent dreams would have come true. Sadly, neither is the case, but thanks for the all-too-brief delusion.
More Kool-Aid, please, Mr. Official Bartender, I need to rekindle a flash-back or two.

I know there's an official song for PCM 2.0 CD-based navigation systems... maybe we need a song for 2004 Cayenne owners and/or potential owners in general... the beta blues perhaps...
